Medical Card

In Utah, medical cannabis is legal for qualified patients who obtain a valid medical cannabis card through the state’s approved medical cannabis program. Patients with eligible medical conditions may purchase cannabis products from licensed medical pharmacies after receiving a recommendation from a qualified healthcare provider. Recreational cannabis use remains illegal under Utah law, and possession or use outside the state’s medical program may result in criminal penalties. Patients should always follow state regulations regarding purchase limits, transportation, and approved methods of use.

Patients must be 21 years of age or older to independently qualify for a medical cannabis card in Utah. Applicants may be required to provide medical documentation or proof of a qualifying diagnosis. Patients under the age of 21 must receive approval from the Compassionate Use Board before obtaining a medical cannabis card.

Please note that there are two separate fees associated with the medical cannabis card process:

  1. A provider fee for the medical evaluation and submission of the application to the state.

  2. A state application fee paid directly to the state of Utah.

These fees are paid separately and are both required to complete the application process.
